Flossing is a crucial part of maintaining good oral hygiene, yet many people overlook its importance. While brushing cleans the surface of your teeth, flossing removes plaque and food particles from between the teeth and along the gum line—areas that a toothbrush cannot reach. Without regular flossing, plaque can build up and lead to gum disease, cavities, and bad breath. Making flossing a daily habit helps keep your gums healthy and supports a clean, fresh smile.
To floss properly, start by using about 30–45 cm of dental floss and wrap it around your fingers, leaving a small section to work with. Gently slide the floss between your teeth, curving it around each tooth in a C-shape and moving it up and down to remove plaque. Be careful not to snap the floss into your gums, as this can cause irritation. Repeat the process for each tooth using a clean section of floss. With proper technique and consistency, flossing becomes an easy and effective way to protect your oral health.
